The Disability Discrimination Act
The Disability Discrimination Act aims to end the discrimination which many people face. Part III of the DDA give disabled people important rights of access to everyday services that others take for granted.
The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 was introduced in order to ensure both employees, employers and service providers provide disabled people with protection against discrimination.
From October 2004 in was made unlawful for a service provider to fail to make reasonable adjustments to the physical features of the service premises in order to overcome physical barriers to access. The service provider has a duty to overcome a physical feature by removing it, alteration or avoidance.
